How it works

How to Make a 3D VTuber Avatar and Go Live

Start with a character idea and reference image, generate a 3D model, manage the completed VRM, drive it with browser face tracking, and connect it to OBS.

The workflow

Six stages from upload to live.

Generation time and facial capability vary with the reference image and external AI provider, but the route through Virmii stays consistent.

  1. 01

    Upload one character reference

Choose a clear full-body or half-body image and give the avatar a name.

  2. 02

    Generate the base 3D model

Virmii sends the reference to Tripo for AI 3D generation and automatic humanoid rigging, while keeping the job status visible in your workspace.

  3. 03

    Standardize and validate

The pipeline standardizes the generated model and humanoid rig, evaluates facial capability, adds avatar metadata, and builds a VRM file.

  4. 04

    Preview and calibrate

Open the finished avatar in the browser, grant camera access when you are ready, and tune movement and expression response.

  5. 05

    Connect an OBS scene

Copy the private live-stage address into an OBS Browser Source. Tracking data travels from the controller to the stage without uploading raw camera video.

  6. 06

    Keep the result

Download the completed VRM for compatible tools or keep using the hosted browser stage from the Virmii workspace.

Before you start

A better reference gives the pipeline more to work with.
